About us

History

Needhams Grove was founded in 1917 by a group of believers that had been meeting in the one-room schoolhouse for several years. The original founders named their congregation "Needhams Grove Christian Church"...because at the core they were a gathering of Christians to worship the Lord and study his Word.

From its inception until the late 1960's, Needhams Grove had several traveling pastors that would come to preach and hold meetings at several churches week after week. Since 1968, Needhams Grove has been blessed with pastors that have both shepherded the people and preached God's Word faithfully.

Currently, Needhams Grove serves the Robbins/Bennett/Seagrove communities and is comprised of a healthy mix of senior saints, middle age families, as well as young couples with children. God has blessed our church with a hunger for Biblical truth and a desire to use our resources to help the worldwide spread of the Gospel.

We are not a perfect church...but we are a church that is being perfected through our walk with Christ!

Doctrine

We believe that the Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and that it has God for its Author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any admixture of error, for its matter. II Timothy 3:16, II Peter1:21, Psalm 119.

We believe that there is only one living and true God, the Creator, Preserver, and Ruler of the Universe, infinite in holiness and all other perfections, to Whom we owe the highest love, reverence, and obedience. Revelation 1:4, 8:17, Genesis 7:9, Acts 17:23, 24.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ was begotten of the Holy Spirit without a human father, born of a virgin, and is truly God. John 1:18, John 3:16, Isaiah 7:14, Isaiah 9:6, Colossians 1:16, 17.

We believe according to the Scriptures He lived a sinless life, died as a satisfactory sacrifice for the sins of the whole world, was buried and rose again the third day, ascended to the right hand of God the Father, where He intercedes for the saints. Hebrews 12:2, I John 2:1.

We believe that man was created sinless and by virtue of Adam’s disobedience, man was made a sinner in need of salvation. Genesis 1 – 3, Romans 5:12-21.

We believe that the way of salvation, according to the Scriptures, is wholly by grace through faith plus nothing. Ephesians 2:8, 9, John 3:16-18, 36, Romans 5:5-8.

We believe that all born-again persons are eternally secure in Christ since the Scriptures teach that our justification before God rests upon the finished work of Christ. Isaiah 14:24, Romans 8:35-39, John 10:27-30, Romans 11:29, Hebrews 7:25, Philippians 1:6, II Timothy 1:12, I Peter 1:5, Jude 24.

We believe that a New Testament Church or assembly is a congregation of baptized believers associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the Gospel, having the New Testament officers of Pastor and Deacons; observing the New Testament ordinances, which are baptism by immersion of a believer and the Lord’s Supper as given to the Church and not the world. We further believe that there is no structural union of local churches and that each church is solely responsible to Christ, its head, and is thus an independent body. Matthew 16:16-18, I Timothy 3:1-16, I Corinthians 12:13.

We believe that it is the privilege and responsibility of New Testament churches to spread the Gospel throughout the world. Acts 13, Matthew 28:19.

We believe in a literal/grammatical/historical method of interpretation of the Scriptures.

We believe, according to the Scriptures, in the sure return of the Lord Jesus Christ, that His second coming will be a literal, bodily and personal event: that His coming for His bride, the church, constitutes the blessed hope set before us, for which we should constantly be looking. We believe His coming is pre-millennial. Job 19:25, 26, Daniel 7:13; Zachariah 14:4, Malachi 3:1, Matthew 24:25, Mark 13, Luke 21, I Corinthians 15, I Thessalonians 4:12-16, II Thessalonians 2:1-7.
